Dear Dave, Linda, David and
family,
Thank you for sharing your
Daniel with us at C.C.S. I feel truly blessed and humbled to have
been a small part of Daniel's life as his teacher this
year.
I have
many fond memories of Daniel. The clearest school memory is of
Daniel's countenance: the twinkle in his eyes and his energetic
smile that made you want to know what he was thinking about. He had
a joy and zeal for the everyday activities of life! He particularly
wanted to learn more about God's creatures. I remember one time when
he held out the snake for me to hold. His words and the grin on his
face revealed that he knew it would make me react, but wanted to
enjoy seeing what would happen. It was a fun exchange-my squimish
approach and his laughter. It was a time to teach the teacher about
the wonders of God's creatures.
Daniel
would often come to me to tell me about something that had happened
that brought him joy or about something interesting he had read in a
book. His offer of friendship was a precious gift! His enthusiasm
for learning was an encouragement. Teachers love to see the desire
to learn in their students. Most of all his sweet spirit-Daniel was
so willing to do his best when given a school task. I admire the
courage and determination I saw Daniel demonstrate at
school.
As
Daniel faced the trials of his illness, his sweet spirit, full of
hope and joy for living continued undaunted. It was a testimony to
his faith in Jesus and the sweet Holy Spirit living within him.
Whenever I read Isaiah 40:31, "But those who hope in the Lord will
renew their strength; They will soar onwings like eagles, They will
run and not grow weary, They will walk and not be faint.", I
will remember Daniel.
Love,
Lynne Mickelson
